DJI not only offers compact and affordable drones for end consumers, but also supplies professional customers. The Zenmuse H30 is a new payload that comes with several modules and different cameras. The system, which weighs around 920 grams, can be used on the Matrice 300 RTK with DJI RC Plus as well as on the Matrice 350 RTK and therefore only on professional drones that are not easy to use.
The H30 payload comes with four different modules, while the H30T comes with an additional sensor, namely a thermal imaging camera. This offers a resolution of 1280 x 1024 and a refresh rate of 30 frames per second. Temperatures between 0 °C and 600 °C can be measured in low-amplification mode; with a density filter in the infrared range, the measuring range increases to up to 1,600 °C.
Two cameras that operate the visible range are also installed. The zoom camera offers a resolution of 40 MP and up to 34x optical zoom. A digital zoom of up to 400x is possible and 4K videos can be recorded. The wide-angle camera has a resolution of 48 MP and comes with an F/1.3 aperture. NIR illumination is available, which should be able to illuminate an area with a diameter of 8 meters at a distance of 100 meters. A laser rangefinder is also included. The gimbal allows the modules to be moved more or less independently of the drone's orientation.
With this system, DJI is likely aiming at emergency services in particular. For example, the thermal imaging camera can be used to find a climber who has had an accident, and rescue workers can then be provided with information about the terrain from the air. The system should also be well suited to monitoring events or investigating major fires.
DJI lists the basic kit for a price of $3,840.
