DJI Focus Pro announced with new LiDAR module as first independent Automated Manual Focus lens control system
It turns out DJI has four products in preparation for release week. On the one hand, the company will wait until Thursday before fully introducing an Avata FPV drone successor. However, key pricing information and specifications have already turned up online, full details of which we have discussed separately. On the other hand, it has used today's 'Focus on the Vision' event to launch the RS 4 and RS 4 Pro camera gimbals, as well as its Focus Pro system.
According to DJI, the Focus Pro is it's 'first independent Automated Manual Focus (AMF) lens control system. Additionally, the Focus Pro integrates a LiDAR module that delivers up to 20 metre and 70° field of view (FoV) focusing distances. On top of that, DJI asserts that its new LiDAR module supports 76,800 ranging points, up from 43,200 in its predecessor. As a result, the Focus Pro should provide more accurate results.
With that being said, DJI points out that it is still possible to manually control focus, aperture and zoom levels. Moreover, DJI includes Focus Pro motors and a Focus Pro grip, the former of which is said to offer 30% speed improvements over earlier examples. The Focus Pro is already orderable globally with prices starting at $999 in the US for its Focus Pro Creator Combo. Alternatively, the company also sells the Focus Pro All-In-One Combo for $1,849; please see DJI's website for more information.
