DJI Avata 2 and DJI Goggles 3 revealed by various pre-release leaks
DJI has had a quiet start to the year, having only presented the Mic 2 so far for consumers. However, there are now numerous signs that the company is preparing to return to its drone roots for its next release. While DJI has not officially announced anything yet, it appears that it plans to replace the Avata, a first-person view (FPV) drone that debuted in August 2022.
Initially, the likes of @JasperEllens and @Quadro_News shared a hands-on photo of the Avata 2, which we have embedded above. Although it is difficult to determine any visual differences based on one photo, DJI is rumoured to have equipped the Avata 2 with a 1/1.3-inch CMOS sensor with a 48 MP native resolution and an f/2.8 aperture. Additionally, the camera is said to have a 155-degree field-of-view plus support for capturing 4K/60 FPS and 2.7K/120 FPS videos.
In other words, the Avata 2 could have a more light-sensitive and larger camera sensor. Nonetheless, it will shoot photos and videos in unchanged resolutions. Reportedly, DJI will introduce its new FPV drone alongside the Goggles 3, a photo and specifications of which can be found below. For now, a release date remains unknown, a does pricing. With that being said, the appearance of both devices at the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) implies that DJI is close to replacing both the Avata and the Goggles 2.
