GoPro has faced an uphill battle in recent years, thanks to the likes of the $399.99 Insta360 Ace Pro and $299.99 DJI Osmo Action 4. Still, GoPro remains a mainstay in the action camera market, and a recent price drop makes it all the more tantalising for those looking for a compact, durable, waterproof camera for travel or outdoor photography and videography. 

Normally, the GoPro Hero12 Black, the action camera maker's latest stab at a flagship camera, comes in at $399.99, but a 25% discount via an Amazon deal has dropped that price down to just $299.00. While the GoPro Hero 12 Black was an incremental update over the Hero 11 Black, to be sure, it is still a very capable camera. 

The GoPro Hero 12 Black is equipped with a 27.6 MP, 1/1.9-inch CMOS sensor behind an F/2.5 wide-angle lens with a 156° FOV. That sensor and lens combination delivers crisp 5.3K videos at up to 60 FPS, while 4K, 16:9 video is capped at a much more impressive 120 FPS. Step the quality down to 2.7K with a 16:9 aspect ratio, and the video frame rate jumps up again to 240 FPS. 

The main appeal of a compact camera like the GoPro Hero 12 Black lies in its compact and rugged design that allows it to be used to capture extreme sports, like mountain biking, motorcycling, and even surfing or snorkelling. HyperSmooth 6.0 is the latest iteration of the image stabilisation tech in GoPro's cameras, and it is designed with exactly those scenarios in mind.

While Amazon's 25% GoPro Hero 12 discount is appealing, GoPro's website lists a number of bundles that are also currently discounted by $100. The Hero 12 Black + Max Lens Mod 2.0 bundle is around 20% off, for a final price of $379.99. On the other hand, the Hero 12 Black + Accessories bundle, which includes the camera, two Enduro batteries, a vertical selfie-stick grip, a head strap, and a carrying case, is discounted by 22%, settling at $349.99 after the deal.
