GoPro’s Quik video and photo editing app coming to desktop soon
Alongside the launch of the new Hero 12 Black and Max Lens Mod 2.0, GoPro has announced that its popular Quik mobile app will be coming to Windows and Mac as a desktop application. However, it will only be available to those with GoPro’s paid subscription, which gives users enhanced editing features, unlimited cloud storage and discounts on certain GoPro products. GoPro claims that the desktop app brings “an expanded list of features and capabilities” such as “more precise edits, a larger workspace for media management, and limitless creation with both GoPro and non-GoPro media”.
The Quik desktop app will integrate across platforms using cloud sync, meaning one could start a project on the mobile app and then seamlessly transition to working on it on the desktop app, or vice versa. It will also feature existing features like automatic highlight videos that combine the best shots with appropriate background music and cinematic transitions. Media can be imported directly from a USB-connected device. GoPro claims that editing operations like color-adjustment, adding slow-motion, resizing and trimming clips will be easier on the larger desktop interface.
The Quik desktop app will be launched first for Mac on November 1, while Windows users will have to wait till the summer of 2024.
