CES 2024 | MSI Creator M16 HX boasts Core i9-14900HX and RTX 4070 but makes do with 65 WHr battery and no Thunderbolt
MSI has introduced quite a selection of content creator-focused laptops at CES 2024 and among them is the new Creator M16 HX. The Creator M16 HX is the first MSI M-series creator laptop to offer upgrades to the latest Intel 14th gen Raptor Lake-HX Refresh CPUs.
The Creator M16 HX shares several specifications with the Creator Z17 HX. The laptop can be configured with up to the Intel Core i9-14900HX and GPU options that include the RTX 4050, RTX 4060, and RTX 4070 Laptop GPUs. Buyers can fit up to 64 GB DDR5 RAM and up to a PCIe Gen5 SSD.
While the Creator Z17 HX offers a QHD+ 165 Hz IPS-like touch panel with 100% DCI-P3 coverage, the Creator M16 HX features a 16-inch QHD+ 240 Hz IPS-like panel with full coverage of the DCI-P3 color gamut.
Also, unlike the Creator Z17 HX, the Creator M16 HX lacks Thunderbolt 4 ports and instead manages with a single USB 3.2 Gen1 Type-C port with DisplayPort-out and Power Delivery. That being said, the Creator M16 HX offers Gigabit Ethernet connectivity, which the Z17 lacks, in addition to Wi-Fi 6E.
Despite offering powerful internals, MSI has chosen to fit the Creator M16 HX with just a 65 WHr battery. It remains to be seen how long the battery lasts with this model. At least, the Creator Z17 HX comes with a 90 WHr cell.
Pricing and availability for the MSI Creator M16 HX is not yet known.
