Kodak Super 8 to launch next month with MicroUSB connectivity for US$5,495
It appears that Kodak is finally preparing to release the Super 8, a camera that it showcased nearly eight years ago during CES 2016. Currently, the company has updated its product page to allow people to reserve a Super 8 camera. For reference, the reservation form not only secures a spot but also reveals the Super 8's retail price, which has ballooned since Kodak gave rough estimates in 2016.
Specifically, Kodak stated that the Super 8 would come to market for between US$400 and US$750. However, it has settled on a US$5,495 MSRP, albeit without clarifying why. Also, it is worth noting that you must sign up again by November 28 at 23:59 EST to maintain 'your position of priority' if you are already on Kodak's existing reservation list. Moreover, Kodak will only offer the Super 8 in limited quantities for US customers, with European sales beginning shortly thereafter.

To recap, the Super 8 uses Kodak Vision3, Tri-X, or Kodachrome film cartridges, each 50 feet long, to capture footage at 16, 24, 25, or 36 FPS. Roughly, each film cartridge will deliver about 2:30 minutes of footage at US$35 each. Additionally, Kodak has integrated a 4-inch LCD digital viewfinder, a MicroSD card reader for digital recordings and a Micro HDMI port for connecting to an external monitor.
Inexplicably, Kodak will ship the Super 8 with a Micro USB port, a sign that the camera has not been updated since the mid-2010s. Kodak adds that the exorbitant price includes more than the camera itself, though. According to its website, the Super 8 will come with a Pelican transport case, a 6 mm and f/1.2 lens, a C-Mount cap for using other bayonet lenses, plus a Tri-X film cartridge. Please see Kodak's website for more details.
