According to new reports, Honor could be the first Android OEM to launch a smartphone with Omnivision's rumoured 1-inch and 50 MP camera sensor. Allegedly, Honor will also equip the Magic6 with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, as well as the Omnivision OV50K.

According to new reports, Honor could be the first Android OEM to showcase the OV50K, a 50 MP sensor manufactured by Omnivision. Previously, there have been suggestions that Huawei is developing one of its next flagships around the same sensor, as well as Xiaomi with the Xiaomi 14 Ultra. However, the latter may use the LYT-900, one of Sony's top Lytia camera sensors.

According to Digital Chat Station, the OV50K may make its debut in the Magic6, likely the cheapest flagship model in next year's Magic6 series. For reference, Honor is also likely to release the Magic6 Pro and Magic6 Ultimate with camera and battery improvements. However, all may utilise identical Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipsets like the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 in this year's models.

Reportedly, the OV50K is a 1-inch type sensor like the Sony IMX989, a 50 MP sensor that has made its way into various recent Xiaomi and Vivo flagships. Other details about the OV50K are unknown for now, with Omnivision keeping the sensor under wraps. Based on this year's releases, the Magic6 and the Omnivision OV50K will arrive in Q1 2024.
