Deal | Early Black Friday Fujifilm GFX 100S deal slashes price by US$1,600 at Amazon and Best Buy

Fujifilm's GFX 100S is a smaller rehash of the pro-grade GFX 100 medium format camera. It makes a few compromises but also improves on the original in some ways. For Black Friday, Fujifilm has cut prices of the GFX 100S by around 27% at many retailers, including Amazon and Best Buy.

Highlights of the photography-centric GFX 100S include its 102 MP backside-illuminated CMOS sensor, five-axis IBIS with up to six stops of compensation, and Fujifilm's X-Processor 4 and all the impressive film simulations and colour science that come with that.

In terms of focus, the GFX 100S offers both contract- and phase-detect autofocus, with 425 AF points across the sensor. The viewfinder on the GFX 100S is a 3.69-million-dot electronic affair with 100% sensor coverage, and there's a 3.2-inch tilting LCD as a backup.

The GFX 100S makes an ideal landscape or portrait photography companion, but, although it does capture 4K video at up to 30 fps, the large sensor and high resolution make it an imperfect choice for hybrid and video shooters.

The Fujifilm G Mount may not be the most popular mount on the planet, but it does have some solid offerings, like the robust, weather-resistant Fujinon GF 110 mm f/2 R LM WR (curr. US$2,249 on Amazon) or Fujinon GF 23 mm f/4 R LM WR (curr. US$2,599 on Amazon).

The price cuts bring the premium camera down to its lowest price on Amazon to date, at just US$4,399. The same 27% discount is available from Best Buy as well, and both discounts start on November 17 and are available through Black Friday on November 24, 2023.
