Meizu CEO Shen Ziyu has announced that not only will the upcoming 21 have a super-thin screen bezel as advertised, it won't even be black. The executive claims that it is bringing that design cue back in a new flagship smartphone with a pale rear panel color that also wraps around to the front.
The result is a minimalist bezel as advertised, albeit with a nearly negligible black line around the inside. Meizu also now asserts that the 21's rounded corners will turn out looking good, defined by their 1.74mm depth.
The Meizu 20's successor is slated to launch some time toward the end of November 2023; however, in the meantime, its fans in China can reserve one online from now for as little as 1 yuan (~US$0.14). The deposit may also unlock other goodies such as a free pair of AR glasses, as well as the 21's unusually generous 36-month warranty.
All in all, it is a shame that this apparent successor to the 16 series will also likely never become available on the international market.
