TCL has now opened pre-orders for the RayNeo X2 in China, a pair of AR glasses that the company showcased in January during CES 2023. The RayNeo X2 should eventually receive a global release too, potentially after the RayNeo Air 2 becomes available outside China.

In January, TCL presented the RayNeo X2, a pair of AR glasses that Android Authority described as 'kind like Google Glass' and TechRadar as 'AR glasses you'll never need (or want) to take off'. Since then, TCL has spun RayNeo off into a separate company, which is also preparing to launch the cheaper Air 2. For reference, the Air 2 appear to serve as a successor to the TCL NXTWEAR Air, with there being no RayNeo Air.

To recap, the RayNeo X2 has a pair of Micro-LED displays that deliver 1,000 nits peak brightness and a 100,000:1 contrast ratio. Additionally, the displays operate at 640 x 480 pixels per eye with a 25-degree field of view (FoV) and 32 pixels per degree (PPD). According to RayNeo's global product listing, the Qualcomm Snapdragon XR2 platform underpins the RayNeo X2, as does 6 GB of RAM, 128 GB of storage and a 590 mAh battery that is rated for up to 3 hours of continuous use.

Furthermore, the AR glasses weigh 119 g, have a 16 MP front-facing camera (1080p/30 FPS) and combine stereo speakers with three microphones for audio transmission. The RayNeo X2 has arrived first in China, where it retails for CNY 4,499 (~US$617). While RayNeo has not confirmed global availability yet, the existence of a US product listing implies that the RayNeo X2 will be available outside China.
