In accordance with our prediction on their Chinese release, the X2 True AR Glasses are now also available to consumers in markets such as the US. Their maker RayNeo is a TCL brand in China, yet presents itself as a company founded and led by CEO Howie Li on Indiegogo.
Nevertheless, the X2s are still powered by the same dedicated 6DoF-capable Snapdragon XR2 platform for mixed-reality wearables, and are also backed to be first to the global market with their Binocular Full-Color 3D Display based on microLED and diffraction optical waveguide technology for "Crystal Clear Visuals".
The advanced lenses are also rated for a peak brightness of 1,500 nits and 85% optical transmittance so the user's eyes can still be seen clearly through them. Accordingly, an X2 wearer will be fully capable of interacting with others - and in a range of other languages too, as the glasses are backed to deliver a Galaxy AI-style "multi-language dialog translation" experience.
They should also be capable of translating monologs in other languages in real time, thanks to a multimodal LLM provided by Microsoft Azure. The X2s also integrate GPT for "AI + AR" features such as their voice-guided 3D navigation and virtual assistance.
<strike>TCL</strike> RayNeo has also equipped the X2s with a 16MP front-facing camera to "capture life's moments" in a frankly Apple Vision Pro manner, and with "intuitive" gesture control options that include the RayNeo Ring that comes in the box.
On that note, the RayNeo X2 True AR glasses currently start at $649 (or ~73% of their eventual RRP) as a backer reward on the new Indiegogo page, which has accrued over $60,000 in funding already.
