Oppo has finally announced a release date and the price of the Air Glass, its first AR glasses. Announced in December 2021 at its INNO Day 2021 event, the Air Glass relies on micro-LED technology and up to 1,400 cd/m² peak brightness. The glasses can show information in 16-level and 256-level greyscale, for reference.
While the Air Glass runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 4100 SoC, it cannot operate independently. Instead, you must pair the glasses to an Oppo smartphone running ColorOS 11 or newer. Oppo has not confirmed if the Air Glass supports other BBK Electronics smartphones too, such as the OnePlus 10 Pro. Purportedly, Oppo will begin selling the Air Glass from tomorrow in Black Mirror and Silver Wing colourways.
All orders will come with two custom frame kits, shown below. The Oppo Air Glass will retail for CNY 4,999 (~US$792) in Oppo's home market. Unfortunately, it remains unclear whether will release the Air Glass outside China. However, the glasses already support the real-time translation of Chinese-English; Chinese to Korean and Japanese is in the works as well.
