TCL has spun RayNeo off into a dedicated company that produces AR and XR products. One of the company's first products is the RayNeo Air 2, a pair of XR glasses that will be available soon with Sony Micro OLED displays for under US$300.

The RayNeo Air 2 is a new pair of Extended Reality (XR) glasses, a catch-all category for AR, MR and VR products. For reference, RayNeo is part of TCL rather than a start-up. Thus, it seems that the RayNeo Air 2 succeed the TCL NXTWEAR AIR, which TCL announced in January 2022. According to RayNeo's product page the Air 2 weighs 76 g, which makes the glasses lighter than conventional reading glasses or sunglasses.

Like the XREAL Air (formerly Nreal) and the TCL NXTWEAR AIR, the RayNeo Air 2 relies upon two Micro OLED panels outputting at 1080p and 120 Hz. Additionally, the Sony-sourced panels are said to deliver 600 nits peak brightness and help simulate a screen that spans 201-inches. For some reason, RayNeo has shared any distances associated with its screen size claims. Instead, the company only confirms that the Air 2 has a 46-degree field of view (FoV).

Either way, the RayNeo Air 2 must be connected to a device via USB Type-C; wireless image transmission remains exclusive to larger XR units for now, like the Meta Quest 3. The RayNeo Air 2 is already available to pre-order in China for CNY 2,299 (~US$314). However, RayNeo will eventually offer the Air 2 globally for US$379 or US$299 if you pick one up during its Early Bird promotional period.
