Spectrum Advanced WiFi next-gen router to support Wi-Fi 7 thanks to Qualcomm
Charter has announced that the Spectrum Advanced WiFi service available to "96%" of its 41-state coverage area is getting an upgrade thanks to Qualcomm. The two companies have collaborated to develop a new router rated for both 10G and Wi-Fi 7 connectivity.
Qualcomm and Charter have thus come to the former's Wi-Fi 7 Day event of today (September 20, 2023) to assert that the new device will help boost "the converged connectivity experience for residential and small and medium-sized business customers".
The partners have also pointed out that the upgrade to Wi-Fi 7 should be the best solution for customers in need of speeds that will sustain their interests in activities such as "fully immersive, ultra-low latency VR", thanks to specs such as up-to-320MHz channels, Multi Link Operation (MLO) and 4K QAM.
Charter also assures customers that they will still be able to access familiar Advanced WiFi features such as Speed Boost and its Spectrum Mobile SSID with the new router. It is projected to become available to interested customers from 2024.
