Honor 90 GT tipped to join Magic6 Pro as 2023/24 smartphone
Honor has proven reluctant to set a launch date for its full Magic6 series, which, given the drive of other OEMs to pre-empt it with Snapdragon 8 Gen 3-powered rivals, is a little surprising. Then again, there is evidence that the event will take place sooner rather than later after all.
The appearance of a new Honor model number on official regulatory databases has given rise to rumors that it is one of the new flagships gaining approval to make a formal debut soon. The BVL-AN16 is suspected of being a Magic5 Pro successor as it is the latest "satellite mobile terminal" (with 5G) to appear on the MIIT database.
The same device has also recently popped up in a new 3C listing with the same 100W wired charging as the Magic5 Ultimate Edition. Accordingly, it is much more surprising that Honor might also release a new mid-range smartphone soon.
It is said to be a variant of the 90, despite the fact that it is a last-gen device now. Nevertheless, the "GT" might be a welcome addition, as it finally drops the series' tendency to split its camera hump into 2 shapes of often quite subjective esthetics. By contrast, this "new Honor smartphone" reverts to a more traditional traffic-light look, albeit with new gold accents on a rich navy background.
Accordingly, this "Honor 90 GT" and Magic6 series might be made available concurrently in late 2023 or early 2024.
