The Realme GT5 Pro has been launched in China with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, 6.8-inch 1.5k 144 Hz display, 5,400 mAh battery and three rear cameras.

Realme's marketing blitz talked at length about the GT5 Pro and its laundry list of features. It will compete against upper-mid-rangers like the Redmi K70 Pro and iQOO 12. The smartphone is now official in China with a loaded spec sheet that could give some flagship devices a run for their money.

The Realme GT5 Pro, much like the OnePlus 12, uses a high-end LTPO OLED panel from BOE. It has a diagonal length of 6.78 inches, 1.5K (1200p) resolution, 1,200 nits full-screen brightness, 4,500 nits local brightness, and a refresh rate of 144 Hz. Realme also brings back a long-dead feature with the GT5 Pro: the ability to unlock your phone with your palm. It also lets you perform some tasks via hand gestures, similar to what Google offered with the Pixel 4.

Under the hood, the Realme GT5 Pro packs what the company calls "the world's fastest Snapdragon 8 Gen 3"; a claim that will undoubtedly be put to the test in the coming days. Enthusiasts can fine-tune their phone's performance via the Geek Performance Panel 2.0, which lets you control the CPU/GPU clocks and a variety of other parameters.

Interestingly, the Realme GT5 Pro misses out on the 24 GB RAM bandwagon that many Chinese OEMs have hopped on, instead choosing to limit the available memory to 16 GB. Knowing Realme, it'll probably launch a special edition GT5 Pro later with 24 GB RAM because its existence has been confirmed via a Geekbench listing. Storage, on the other hand, maxes out at a plentiful 1 TB.

For the cameras, the Realme GT5 Pro uses a 50MP Sony LYT808 sensor + 8MP Sony IMX355 ultra-wide-angle lens + 50MP Sony IMX890 telephoto lens. At the front, there's a 32MP Sony IMX615 sensor for selfies and such, which can also record video at 4K 30 FPS. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, NFC and a 5 Gbps USB Type-C port.

Lastly, the Realme GT5 Pro packs a 5,400 mAh battery that supports 100 W wired and 50 W wireless charging, both on proprietary hardware. Realme has also thrown in an under-display fingerprint scanner and an X-Axis haptic motor.

The Realme GT5 Pro is relatively affordable, with its base variant (12/256 GB) retailing at RMB 3,298 ($464). Its maxed-out variant (16/1,024 GB) costs merely RMB 4,198 (US$590). These prices are valid for a limited time only and will likely shoot up after a few days. Unfortunately, there's on word about when Realme plans to launch the GT5 Pro globally.
