Realme Note incoming as new potentially affordable Android smartphone option with a familiar name
No Android smartphone OEM can seemingly resist the temptation to follow the trend that Samsung set all those years ago (12 years now, in fact) with the original Galaxy Note - not even Realme, it seems. The brand has avoided falling in line for all of its 5-year history, but has finally cracked and will launch its first ever device of this name in 2024.
Whereas recent examples such as the Redmi Note 13 5G and Infinix Note 30 go for an experience similar enough to that expressed by the Galaxy Note DNA still found in the S23 Ultra with ~6.78-inch displays, the "Realme Note 1" is tipped to have one of just 6.67 inches in diagonal length.
This rumor originates in a leaked slide that overtly compares those 3 devices as "competing products" - despite the fact that Realme's inaugural Note is listed as having a MediaTek Dimensity 7050 SoC rather than the 6080 of the Redmi device or Helio G99 of the Infinix.
The "Note 1" is also depicted as having a 5,000mAh battery - but with 67W charging that would outstrip that for either of its alleged rivals. Furthermore, Realme might bestow a 108MP main camera - one of the brand's habitual mid-range selling points - on the Note 1, although this rear-facing shooter could be saddled with less flashy 8+2MP backup lenses.
Finally, the "Note 1's" first-ever leak yields a January 24, 2024 launch date, although that might only be good for the tipster @ThisGood15's home market of Indonesia. In any case, Realme founder and current CEO Sky Li has only confirmed that its new series is to be a thing this year so far.
