Honor Magic6 series tipped to launch as super-high-res periscope zoom camera smartphones
The iQOO 12 and 12 Pro have just become pioneers in what is thought to become the new trend of higher-res periscope lenses in smartphones as we move toward 2024. The next-gen modules are all either confirmed or rumored to have been made using 64MP sensors - however, Honor is now said to have outdone them all with a custom zoom lens for the Magic6 and its siblings.
The telephoto lens in question was once vaguely linked to a class-leading 200MP resolution; however, Honor has reportedly decided that 160MP is good enough for this kind of shooter. It may or may not form a (literal) triangle of rear cameras in the Magic6 series, joining a new and allegedly exposure-resistant 50MP sensor as a primary lens.
This "Omnivision OV50K" has been mentioned in conjunction with the prevailing 1-inch size spec for truly top-end Android devices; however, Honor has again reportedly conceded that it needs to go with the more standard ~1/1.3-inch footprint for integration into its upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 3-powered flagships.
Nevertheless, legendary tipster Digital Chat Station still backs Magic6-series imagery as something "still worth looking forward to", and that the hardware behind it is an upgrade over that of its predecessors nonetheless.
