According to a new leak, the Honor Magic6 smartphone series will be equipped with a huge 1-inch sensor that will also be used in the Xiaomi 14 Ultra and reportedly solves a well-known problem in smartphone photography.

Well-known leaker Digital Chat Station recently shared some details on Weibo about the possible and exciting features of the upcoming Honor Magic6 series. According to his information, smartphones in this series will be the first to come onto the market with the OmniVision OV50K sensor. This is the same sensor that, according to a leak from a few weeks ago, is also expected for the Xiaomi 14 Ultra.

The yet-to-be released successor to the OV50H in 1/1.3 inch format, which is found in the iQOO 12 (Pro), among others, will be presented in 1 inch format and offer 50 MP. It said to be on par with the 1-inch Sony IMX989. The leaker also speaks of brand new LOFIC technology that reportedly solves a known problem in smartphone photography.

LOFIC stands for "Lateral Overflow Integration Capacitor" and is intended to prevent overexposure in bright scenes. This occurs when too much light hits the sensor in particularly bright environments and can lead to overexposure and a loss of detail during conversion into the electronic signals for which the sensor is responsible. The OmniVision OV50K supposedly solves this problem with LOFIC by not using excess charge above a certain limit, so that detailed and unadulterated recordings should be possible at high brightness.

Furthermore, the Honor Magic6 model series will feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, eye tracking and other exciting features as well as satellite communication. However, it remains uncertain whether there will be a 200 MP periscope telephoto camera in the series, as was assumed a few months ago for the Honor Magic6 Ultimate.
