Deal | US$400 off Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra in Best Buy Black Friday deal
One of the only drawbacks of the Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra (see our detailed review for test data) is its price. Even a year after launch, Samsung's ultra-high-end iPad killer continues to retail at over US$1,000. Best Buy is currently running a Black Friday sale on the Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra, dropping the price by US$400 for the entry-level model, with 128 GB of storage and 8 GB of RAM, and the mid-range model with 256 GB of storage and 12 GB of RAM.
The highlight feature of the Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra has to be its immense — for a tablet — 14.6-inch, 2960×1848, 120 Hz, Super AMOLED display. Not only is it bright, achieving over 600 nits in our testing, but it's also colour accurate and has great coverage of both the sRGB and DCI-P3 colour spaces.
Performance is also what you'd expect from a flagship, even if it is last year's flagship, thanks to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 packed into the Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra. Despite its impossibly-thin 5.5 mm shell, the Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra performs admirably in benchmarks, even if it does throttle slightly after repeated graphically-heavy benchmark runs.
Another stand-out feature of the Tab S8 Ultra is the included S Pen that features 4,096 levels of pressure sensitivity. Alongside the multitasking support and Samsung's DeX desktop-like environment, the Tab S8 Ultra can realistically serve as a lightweight laptop replacement, as long as your work doesn't entail anything Windows-exclusive.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra (Wi-Fi version) is discounted on Best Buy to US$699.99 for the 128 GB version with 8 GB of RAM and US$799.99 for the 256 GB version with 12 GB of RAM.
