The Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra was once heralded as possibly the best Android tablet around, even as it helped pioneer the extra-large tablet screen craze in 2022. Now, it and its smaller siblings can stay relevant with their latest software upgrade.
Now that the newer Tab S9 series has completed its Android 14 roll-out, their predecessors can now reportedly start to do the same, starting in Europe from now. Tab S8-series owners in that region can look forward to a unique firmware upgrade per variant: X706BXXU5CWK7 for the vanilla S8; X806BXXU5CWK7 for the Plus model and X906BXXU5CWK7 for the Ultra flagship.
These new OTAs are also slated to come with the November 2023 security patch: same as that for the Galaxy S23 Ultra. It is also, of course, rated to upgrade the ex-flagship tablets to One UI 6, which confers "a new look for your Galaxy" (particularly in terms of the homescreen and lockscreen), new versions of apps such as Wallet and Members, and Android 14-related tweaks such as even more assiduous permission settings for a user's data.
