Samsung has presented two new tablets, both under the auspices of the Galaxy Tab S9 FE series. As expected, the company has created a smaller option to serve as the Galaxy Tab S9 FE and a 12.4-inch option for the Galaxy Tab S9 FE Plus. In effect, the latter serves as a direct successor to the Galaxy Tab S7 FE; the Galaxy Tab S9 FE has no direct predecessor.
Additionally, the pair undercut Samsung's flagship Galaxy Tab S9 and Galaxy Tab S9 Plus. The company has implemented some cost reductions though, including removing the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy chipset and AMOLED display panels. Instead, the Galaxy Tab S9 FE pair feature IPS panels with 90 Hz refresh rates, as well as an unnamed octa-core chipset believed to be the Exynos 1380.
Moreover, both tablets have 12 MP front-facing and 8 MP rear-facing cameras, although only the larger tablet has a secondary rear-facing camera. For reference, the latter is an 8 MP ultra-wide-angle. Still, the Galaxy Tab S9 FE series is IP68 certified and is promised four major Android updates with a fifth year of security patches.
The Galaxy Tab S9 FE series starts at US$449 in the US for the smaller 10.9-inch option with 128 GB of storage. Alternatively, the Galaxy Tab S9 FE is available with twice the storage for a US$70 surcharge. In comparison, the Galaxy Tab S9 FE Plus retails for US$599 and US$699 with 128 GB or 256 GB of storage, respectively.
