While the Galaxy Tab S9+ convinces us in the test, Samsung still has some work to do in terms of efficiency
When we saw the slim box of the Galaxy Tab S9+ for the first time, we already knew that Samsung wants to make a statement here: "A super-slim tablet is waiting for you here to unpack." But at the same time, we also knew that a charger wouldn't fit into this box.
This also describes our experiences during the test of the Samsung Galaxy Tab S9+ fairly well: On one hand, the tablet creates some excitement with many well-thought-out design decisions and high-quality components. But on the other hand, we also notice some details from time to time that could still use some improvements. And even if the tablet is on sale at Amazon, the manufacturer officially asks for an MSRP of 1,119 to 1,389 Euros (starting from $999 in the US).
But the case is not one of those details, since the manufacturer did everything right in this regard: The case is compact, comfortable to hold, and offers slim bezels around the display while still being easy to operate without accidentally triggering the touchscreen all the time. In addition, it is IP-certified, so you can take the Galaxy Tab S9+ with you even when you go swimming.
On the other hand, there is still room for improvement in the software with its many preinstalled apps and only quarterly security updates - even if the promise for a long update period until 2028 of course sounds great.
The display is bright enough for HDR movies and offers a good color reproduction. Even though Samsung has adjusted the PWM frequency to the refresh rate, sensitive users should still test the screen before a purchase rather than ordering it blindly.
The SoC delivers absolute high-end power, and in terms of gaming, at up to 90 fps in PUBG Mobile, the tablet also has no reason to hide.
Another great feature is the inclusion of an input pen, although the already mentioned lack of an included charger is still annoying.
The largest potential for improvement probably lies in the power consumption, since the Galaxy Tab S9+ already consumes a lot of power during idle operation. The result is a mediocre battery life.
You can find out why the Samsung tablet still ends up with a "very good" test note and about all the details of our evaluation in our extensive review of the Samsung Galaxy Tab S9+.
