Samsung has launched the Portable SSD T9 series, now available in countries including the US and Germany. The model is the first PSSD from the brand to feature a USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 interface, providing read/write speeds of up to 2,000MB/s. This makes the new device twice as fast as its predecessor, the T7, allowing you to transfer a 4GB Full HD video in around two seconds.
The T9 has a USB 3.2 Gen 2x interface and is available in three sizes: 1 TB, 2TB and 4TB. Samsung says that the SSD has a “fabric-like feel” and a rugged design, resistant to drops from heights up to 3 m (~9.8 ft). The device has a five-year warranty, and the brand’s Dynamic Thermal Guard protects against overheating. You can manage the T9 with the newly released Samsung Magician Software 8.0, where you can access features like performance benchmarks, security tools, firmware updates and health status.
The new software also expands OS support to include Windows, Mac and Android, and the T9 itself is compatible with various Windows and macOS smartphones, tablets, gaming consoles and cameras. The compact gadget measures 3.5 x 2.4 x 0.6-in (88 x 60 x 14 mm) and weighs 4.3 oz (~122 g). You can now buy the 1TB, 2TB and 4TB versions of the Samsung Portable SSD T9 for US$139.99, US$239.99 and US$439.99, respectively.
