Roland Quandt has discovered new information about the Galaxy Tab S8 FE, an alleged follow-up to last spring's Galaxy Tab S7 FE that Samsung has codenamed 'Birdie'. Writing on Twitter, the leaker claims that the Galaxy Tab S8 FE is the tablet's set marketing name rather than a presumed name, considering the existence of the Galaxy Tab S7 FE. While Quandt has not revealed marketing imagery about the next 'Fan Edition', he has pointed towards what to expect from Samsung's next cheaper tablet.
Specifically, the Galaxy Tab S8 FE will launch with an LCD panel, not an AMOLED or OLED one. The display's resolution and refresh rate remain unknown at this stage, although we suspect that Samsung has opted for an LCD panel to reduce manufacturing costs. Still, Quandt expects Samsung to complement the LCD with a Wacom digitiser for a 'great pen experience', which many cheaper tablets lack.
The leaker adds that Samsung has assigned the Galaxy Tab S8 FE the model number 'SM-X506B', with 'B' denoting a European variant. As Quandt points out, GalaxyClub.nl discovered 'SM-X506B' earlier this year on Geekbench with ARM MT8791V/TZA, the model number of the MediaTek Kompanio 900T. Currently, it is unknown when Samsung will introduce the Galaxy Tab S8 FE, although we would not be surprised if the company waited until early 2023 considering how close we now are to the holiday season.
