Samsung typically releases its tablets in 18-month cycles. After launching the Galaxy Tab S8 series in February last year alongside the Galaxy S22 series, the South Korean company is expected to debut the Galaxy Tab S9 lineup in August this year, and a new leak has now hinted at a possible detail of the premium tablets.
According to leaker Digital Chat Station, at this point, it appears Samsung isn't set to equip the Galaxy Tab S9 series with the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. Supposedly, the tablets are being readied with last year's Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 instead.
Admittedly, the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 remains an incredible flagship-grade chipset, far outperforming the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 on the Galaxy Tab S8 series. As such, the Galaxy Tab S9 lineup would still offer a big jump in performance over its predecessors. That said, however, Samsung usually treats its tablet lineup as first-class citizens with all expected benefits; it'd be unusual for the Tab S9 series to arrive with a chipset worse than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy on the S23 series.
While the source is usually spot-on for Chinese devices, it's more likely that this leak may not have much substance to it, and should be taken with a pinch of salt. We'll keep you updated either way.
