Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 5G — creative and multimedia tablet with high-end SoC
Like all tablets from Samsung's current Galaxy Tab S8 lineup, the Galaxy Tab S8 5G does not come with a power supply upon purchase, but with the Samsung S Pen digital input pen. This magnetically attaches to two places on the aluminum casing; firstly, on the top directly next to the volume rocker and the function key, and secondly, to the back cover directly below the 13 MP dual camera. In the case of the latter, inductive charging is supported.
The S Pen recognizes 4096 pressure levels, thus allowing for very precise writing and drawing. Users can open a pop-up menu via a pen icon on the right edge of the screen and launch apps such as the notepad, and immediately start writing. This feels very natural due to the high performing SoC and the responsive 120 Hz screen. You can also store your own apps in the pen menu and then call them up as easily as via a quick launch bar.
Optional docking keyboard
Another element in the productive construction kit is the optional Book Cover, an additional keyboard that magnetically attaches to the tablet's underside. In combination with Samsung DeX (Desktop eXperience), a user interface similar to Windows in terms of layout and operation, the Samsung tablet then functions almost like a notebook.
Other productive features include the Samsung Smart Switch, which allows the Galaxy Tab S8 5G to receive content from other compatible Samsung Galaxy devices, and a multi-Windows view for compatible applications. Lastly, there is the Second Screen feature, which allows the tablet to function as a second screen for a Windows PC.
