Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 and Tab S8+ feature Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, 12 MP front camera, and enhanced interop with other Galaxy devices but ditch the charger
Alongside the Galaxy S22 Series and the Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra, Samsung also introduced the Tab S8 and Tab S8+ as upgrades to the Galaxy Tab S7 and the Galaxy Tab S7 Plus. The Galaxy Tab S8 and Tab S8+ share many common features with the flagship Tab S8 Ultra. The differences primarily are with respect to the display, dimensions, imaging, storage, battery capacities, and color options.
The base Galaxy Tab S8 features an 11-inch 2560x1600 IPS display with refresh rates up to 120 Hz while the Tab S8+ comes with a 12.4-inch 2800x1752 120 Hz AMOLED display. S-Pen support is standard across all models. While all Tab S8 devices feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC, both the Galaxy Tab S8 and Tab S8+ have their RAM and internal storage are capped at up to 12 GB and 256 GB, respectively.
Both the Galaxy Tab S8 and Tab S8+ support Wi-Fi 6E and are optionally available in 5G variants as well. Unlike the Tab S8 Ultra that sports an in-display fingerprint reader, Galaxy Tab S8 and Tab S8+ make do with one in the power button.
The Galaxy Tab S8 Series is equipped with 13 MP wide and 6 MP ultra-wide-angle rear cameras across the board. However, the Galaxy Tab S8 and Tab S8+ only offer a single 12 MP ultra-wide-angle shooter unlike the Tab S8 Ultra that features two 12 MP cameras on the front. While the advantage is that the Galaxy Tab S8 and Tab S8+ do not have to bother with the notch, it does result in somewhat thicker bezels compared to the Tab S8 Ultra. That being said, the bezels are still manageable and do not seem to interfere with the aesthetics.
The other major difference is with the battery capacity. The base Galaxy Tab S8 houses an 8,000 mAh cell while the Galaxy Tab S8+ is equipped with a 10,090 mAh one. Fast charging up to 45 W is supported, but such a charger has to be purchased separately.
All Galaxy Tab S8 Series devices come pre-loaded with One UI 4.1 based on Android 12 and are eligible to receive four years of major Android OS updates and five years of security patches. All models support the new Samsung DeX, Quick Share with the Galaxy S22 Ultra, and Auto Switch when paired with Galaxy S22 phones and the Galaxy Buds. The Tab S8 Series can also double-up as portable secondary touchscreen monitors when used with a Galaxy Notebook.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 will be available in Graphite, Silver, and Pink Gold options starting from €749 for the 128 Wi-Fi model and going up to €799 for 256 GB Wi-Fi. The 128 GB 5G variant starts from €899 and can go up to €949 for the 256 GB 5G SKU.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab S8+ will also be available in the aforementioned color options. Pricing starts from €949 for the 128 GB Wi-Fi while the 256 GB Wi-Fi retails for €999. The Tab S8+ 128 GB 5G starts from €1,099 while the 256 GB 5G SKU will set you back by €1,149. Pre-orders begin today with availability in the U.S., Europe, and Korea expected from February 25.
