Samsung Galaxy S22: Compact flagship launched with a 6.1-inch display from €849
Samsung has unveiled the Galaxy S22, the cheapest entry in the new Galaxy S22 series. Like the Galaxy S22+ and Galaxy S22 Ultra, the Galaxy S22 will receive four years of OS updates and launches with the Exynos 2200 or Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, depending on where you live. The Galaxy S22 shares many of its other features with the Galaxy S22+ too, although it has a smaller battery capacity.
Specifically, the Galaxy S22 contains a 3,700 mAh battery within its 70 x 146 x 7.6 mm and 167 g chassis. According to Samsung, the Galaxy S22 has a 6.1-inch FHD+ AMOLED display that supports 120 Hz refresh and 240 Hz touch sampling rates. Moreover, the Galaxy S22 peaks at 1,300 nits, 450 nits darker than the Galaxy S22+.

Separately, the Galaxy S22 has a 50 MP primary camera with OIS and an f/1.8 aperture. Samsung complements the high megapixel primary camera with a 12 MP ultra-wide-angle (f/2.2), a 10 MP telephoto camera that offers 3x 'Hybrid Optical Zoom' (f/2.4/OIS) and a 10 MP front-facing camera (f/2.2).
The Galaxy S22 starts at €849 with 128 GB of storage in Pink Gold, Green, Phantom Black and Phantom White. However, Samsung will also exclusively offer the smartphone in Graphite, Cream, Violet and Sky Blue through its online store. Additionally, the Galaxy S22 costs €899 with 256 GB of storage; no 512 GB or 1 TB models are available. Both storage variants come with 8 GB of RAM, for reference.
Samsung states that it will begin shipping the Galaxy S22 from February 25. Both smartphones are available to pre-order today, too. Samsung adds that pre-orders placed until February 24 will receive a complimentary pair of Galaxy Buds Pro earbuds. As usual, the company is running a trade-in program across all Galaxy S22 series devices.
