First post-launch Galaxy S22 Ultra and S22 camera samples show off Samsung's new photography chops
Samsung debuted the Galaxy S22 series yesterday at the much-awaited Unpacked event. As has become typical, camera performance headlined the event, with Samsung heavily marketing its new "Nightography". The first camera samples from the Galaxy S22 series have now been revealed, and they look quite good.
While there's hardly any point in dissecting the individual images—we'll analyze the phones' camera performance thoroughly when they're in for review—the first leaked samples mostly manage to show off excellent low-light performance as well as impressive dynamic range all around.
Comparing the Galaxy S22 Ultra to the vanilla Galaxy S22, both phones capture similar 3x zoom shots—no surprise, since they feature identical 3x optical zoom hardware. The Galaxy S22 Ultra pulls ahead at longer ranges, though, which is expected. Zoom-wise, the Galaxy S22 Ultra also appears to be a massive leap over the Galaxy S21 Ultra, at least in the 30x range. For some reason, however, the Galaxy S22 Ultra also appears to capture more saturated colors than the vanilla Galaxy S22.
Of course, it's still early days yet and Samsung has a record of improving its cameras after launch with software updates. At the very least, though, we know that the Galaxy S22 series offers excellent cameras.
These are interesting, all captured with Galaxy S22 Ultra.
