LifeProof announces its new, sustainable range of Samsung Galaxy S22-series cases
Samsung has launched the Galaxy S22 series with a strong focus on sustainability and ecological responsibility. This explains the new kind of plastic for some of their components made of recovered fishing nets, not to mention the almost inevitable lack of power bricks in their retail boxes. However, the OEM might as well not have bothered, as LifeProof may have outdone it with its latest cases for the new flagship smartphones.
The accessories OEM has now announced that its WĀKE, SEE, and NËXT lines are now compatible with the Galaxy S22, S22+ and S22 Ultra. They start at US$40 for the WĀKE variants, which are the only completely opaque choices for the new devices from this company.
The cases come with a wavy pattern for grip and durability, and are made of 85% "ocean-based" recycled plastics in black, olive green or gray with orange-ish accents. The SEE cases have bumpers in the same colorway, as well as some others such as blue or black, but have a clear back and are made of over over 50% recycled materials.
Their NËXT series have a similar build and proportion of recycled material, although they are rated to be snow- and dirt-proof as drop-proof. Those new top-end LifeProof cases are $80 per S22 variant, whereas each SEE vairant is priced at $50. Add at least $799 for a new phone to go with one of these accessories, and eco-friendliness in 2022 begins to look much more prohibitive that it should be in 2022.
