Nubia has confirmed that it will soon contend for the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 OEM crown soon with the Z40 Pro. It has hinted that it will do so by pairing this top-end SoC with a high-tech new cooling system. Now, a new leak may demonstrate how well this claim works out in testing.
It comes in the form of a new Geekbench listing for the "ZTE NX701J", characterized as the model number for Nubia's 8 Gen 1-based flagship in an earlier leak. It shows that the phone seems to have scored exactly 1200 in single-core scores, and nearly 3500 in multi-core terms.
These results, quite aside from being arguably impressive, hold up well to those recently associated with the Samsung Galaxy S22 series on the same silicon. Then again, their apparent Nubia equivalent seemed to have 16GB of RAM to work with, whereas that may only be an option for the top-end S22 Ultra.
Then again, the South Korean OEM is likely to beat Nubia to the launch of its 2022 flagships: it has a concrete date of February 9, 2022 (also known as tomorrow) for its Galaxy S22 Unpacked event, whereas the ZTE brand has yet to specify one for its upcoming Z40 Pro.
