Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra SoC and battery information revealed by new leak
Despite being in the rumour mill for a long time, very little is known about the Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 series. A previous report said it would offer dust and water resistance, which is uncommon among tablets because they're not subject to as much wear and tear as smartphones. As far as the internals go, Twitter leaker @tech_reve has some exciting news.
The Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra will supposedly use Qualcomm's upcoming Snapdragon 8+ Gen 2, an overclocked version of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. It will also pack a massive 10,880 mAh battery. Earlier, it was revealed the tablet would skip the latter and stick with the last-gen Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1. Samsung could also go for a two-pronged approach for its tablets, with the vanilla Galaxy Tab S9 and Galaxy Tab S9 using the last-gen chip, leaving the flagship silicon for the Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra.
Much like the Galaxy Tab S9 series, the upcoming Snapdragon 8+ Gen 2 is also shrouded by mystery. Qualcomm's "Plus" branded chips usually offer little more than a bump in performance. Therefore, one could argue the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy is already reminiscent of the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 2. Furthermore, it makes sense for Samsung to use an existing line of SoCs for its products rather than a new one altogether.
