PocketBook InkPad Color 3 launches in North America with colour E-ink Kaleido 3 display
PocketBook has brought the InkPad Color 3 to North America, following its launch last month in Europe. To recap, the InkPad Color 3 relies upon a Kaleido 3 E-ink display that measures 7.8-inches across. According to Pocketbook, the display delivers 4,096 colours, 50% up on the InkPad Color 2.
Additionally, the InkPad Color 3 outputs at 1,404 x 1,872 pixels with greyscale enabled, which equates to a 300 DPI pixel density. However, the display is limited to 939 x 702 pixels and 150 DPI with its colour filter activated. By contrast, the InkPad Color 2 drops to 468 x 624 pixels in the same scenario.
As Liliputing notes, other areas remain unchanged between the InkPad Color 2 and InkPad Color 3, such as 1 GB of RAM, 32 GB of storage and a 2,900 mAh battery that supports USB Type-C charging. Moreover, both E-readers rely upon the same unnamed 1.8 GHz quad-core processor and are IPX8-rated against water. The PocketBook InkPad Color 3 retails for US$329 in the US and should start shipping before Christmas. Please see PocketBook's website for more details.
