Xiaomi Pad 7 Pro could launch with Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 and trusty 144 Hz display

The Xiaomi Pad 6 series is over six months old, so it should come as no surprise that leakers already claim to have obtained information about follow-up models. For reference, it took Xiaomi until July before it released the Pad 6 globally (curr. US$364 on Amazon). Also, while the Pad 6 Max debuted a month later in Xiaomi's home market, neither it nor the Pad 6 Pro have been officially available outside China.

Regardless, renowned leaker Digital Chat Station has now shared details on Weibo about a new tablet that the likes of MySmartPrice have taken to be the Xiaomi Pad 7 Pro. However, it is worth stressing that the leaker did not explicitly mention the tablet's name. Thus, it is possible Digital Chat Station could be referring to an upcoming tablet from a different Android OEM.

If MySmartPrice's speculation is accurate, then the Pad 7 Pro is rumoured to arrive with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, which Qualcomm recently replaced with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. Introduced roughly a year ago, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 would replace the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 that powers the current Pad 6 Pro. Purportedly, the Pad 7 Pro will feature a 144 Hz LCD panel, implying that Xiaomi will port across the display from its predecessor. Moreover, the Pad 7 Pro will sport a square-shaped camera housing, likely one inspired by the equivalents found in the Xiaomi 14 and Xiaomi 14 Pro. Currently, Xiaomi is expected to release the Pad 7 series in early 2024.
