Thailand's National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) have now published initial documentation for SM-S928B/DS, the global version of the Galaxy S24 Ultra. For context, the 'DS' suffix denotes that this device also contains dual-SIM connectivity. Surprisingly, NBTC has mentioned the Galaxy S24 Ultra by name, unlike their equivalents in other countries, like the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).
Likewise, the Korean Agency for Technology and Standards (KATS/Safety Korea) has certified SM-S928N, the same device's South Korean regional variant. Incidentally, Safety Korea showcased the Galaxy S24 Ultra's battery in late August, which it listed as EB-BS928ABY alongside equivalents for the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24 Plus. Reportedly, Samsung will only pair this 5,000 mAh battery with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, with the Exynos 2400 utilised for the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24 Plus in a few markets.
Unsurprisingly, the SM-S928B/DS supports 5G connectivity, which is par for the course at this stage. All in all, the two new certifications underline that Samsung is making preparations to deliver the Galaxy S24 Ultra soon, likely simultaneously with the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24 Plus. To that end, the company recently filed trademarks for 'AI Phone' and 'AI Smartphone' likely as a tie-in for the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3's AI capabilities. Hands-on photos of the Galaxy S24 Ultra have surfaced online too, in which differences between it and the Galaxy S23 Ultra (curr. US$899.50 on Amazon) can clearly be seen.
