Honor Magic6 series: Leaker names exciting camera specs, including Samsung 200 MP telephoto

Ten days before the official launch of the Honor Magic 6 generation on January 10th and 11th in China, X-user and leaker @rodent950, who may still be known to some from his Huawei days, provided a list of specs of the three models of the Honor Magic5 successor, which consisted of a total of four models in 2023. In addition to the Honor Magic5 Lite, Honor Magic5 and Honor Magic5 Pro, there was also the Honor5 Ultimate model, which unfortunately did not make it outside of China.

It remains to be seen whether buyers will be able to make a purchase from the Honor Magic collection in 2024 or whether the real high-end model will be globally available. According to the leaker, there are currently at least three models planned for China. In addition to the Honor Magic6 and Honor Magic 6 Pro, there will also be a Porsche Edition, which is naturally reminiscent of Huawei's former high-end models from the Mate series in the Porsche design. Naturally, this 'Magic6 Ultimate' will have the most exciting camera to offer, more on that below.

Honor Magic6 and Honor Magic6 Pro

If the leaker's claims are correct, the Honor Magic 6 base model will launch with a 1/1.28 inch 50 MP Omnivision OV50H sensor behind the main camera, paired with a 1/1.88 inch 50 MP OV50M for the telephoto and ultra wide angle camera. The battery is said to have a capacity of 5450 mAh. The Magic 6 Pro's main camera and ultra-wide angle remain unchanged (i.e. OV50H and OV50M), but the telephoto module is said to feature a 1/1.4-inch Samsung ISOCELL HP3 sensor for extremely high-resolution 200 MP zoom shots, confirming earlier rumors of an alternative to the Vivo X100 Pro+ or Vivo X100 Ultra. According to the leaker, the battery capacity will increase to 5600 mAh.

Honor Magic6 Porsche Design Edition

Only the top model in the Porsche Design apparently has a 1-inch sensor; according to the leak, this is another Omnivision sensor, an OV50K that is not yet officially available. The remaining camera specs are the same as the Pro model, i.e. 200 MP HP3 and 50 MP OV50M, and the battery size remains the same as the Magic6 Pro at 5600 mAh.

If the 200 MP telephoto photo is actually already in the Pro model, this would be an opportunity for users outside of China to try out such a configuration, as the presumably planned Vivo high-end model may well once again remain exclusive to China. Of course, the aforementioned specs remain unconfirmed, but the first teasers and hands-on images of the Honor flagships are already circulating.
