CES 2024 | Magic Bay Studio: Lenovo confirms pricing, availability and specifications for new 4K conferencing solution
Lenovo has showcased the Magic Bay Studio at CES 2024 alongside various ThinkBook and ThinkCentre machines. As its product images show, the Magic Bay Studio is a webcam with built-in speakers. Please note that the webcam lacks any integrated microphones, meaning that you must rely on an external microphone or those built into your laptop when on conference calls.
According to the company's press release, the Magic Bay Studio 'stands out with its cutting-edge 4K camera technology', although a footnote clarified that a 4K resolution is only available in supported and undefined applications. Also, Lenovo limits the webcam to 4K recordings at 30 FPS with no clarification offered about a 60 FPS mode.
At any rate, Lenovo adds that the 1/1.28-inch CMOS sensor supports up to 4x digital zoom, as well as autofocus, HDR and a 90° field of view (FOV) that can be digitally cropped to 65° or 78°. Additionally, the Magic Bay Studio has a camera lens cover, a pair of 2 W speakers and various automatic image controls, including exposure and low-light correction. The Magic Bay Studio should be launched in April for $199.99; Lenovo has not confirmed European pricing or availability yet, though.
