Vivo X100 Ultra: Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra rival set to arrive with monstrous camera hardware
Samsung is reportedly set to take a step back in the zoom department with the upcoming Galaxy S24 Ultra, and rivals may see that as an opportunity of sorts. After releasing the X100 and X100 Pro, Vivo is billed to launch a range-topping flagship phone, the Vivo X100 Ultra, with a new leak now hinting at camera hardware that could dominate Samsung's Galaxy S24 Ultra.
As revealed by leaker Digital Chat Station, the Vivo X100 Ultra—widely referred to as "Thanos" by Weibo users—will arrive with a 50 MP main camera. The sensor will be Sony's new 1-inch LYT900, which already features on devices like the OPPO Find X7 Ultra. Joining that will be an unspecified 50 MP sensor behind an ultra-wide-angle lens. Rounding it up, however, will be a 200 MP sensor paired with a periscope lens.
On a purely hardware level, the Vivo X100 Ultra promises to be one of the best camera smartphones of the year. Its main 50 MP camera is easily more powerful than the 200 MP camera the Galaxy S24 Ultra will feature. In addition, the combination of a 200 MP sensor and a periscope setup all but ensures "Thanos" will outperform the S24 Ultra in terms of long-range zoom, with the flagship even tipped to offer 200x zoom.
