Around two weeks ago, Vivo announced that the Vivo X100 Pro would soon be available in Europe, at least in Austria; official sales in Germany may not be possible due to the patent dispute with Nokia. The device is particularly interesting because of its extremely well-equipped triple camera, which consists of the following three cameras:
- 50 MP f/1.75 main camera (1/0.98 inch sensor, OIS)
- 50 MP f/2.0 ultra wide angle camera (1/2.76 inch sensor, 15 mm)
- 50 MP f/2.5 telephoto camera (1/2 inch, 100 mm, OIS)
In DxOMark's detailed analysis, the setup is impressive for the most part. At 150 points, the flagship comes in eighth place, on par with the Oppo Find X6 and only just behind the Google Pixel 8 Pro, the Apple iPhone 15 Pro and the Huawei P60 Pro. DxOMark also confirms that the Vivo X100 Pro has the best telephoto camera of all smartphones, which is hardly surprising given the long focal length, the relatively large sensor and bright aperture.
Particularly in low light, the Vivo X100 Pro's telephoto camera captures more detailed, low-noise photos than the iPhone 15 Pro Max's equally new periscope telephoto camera. The comparison images (embedded below) demonstratively show just how much better the Vivo X100 Pro actually is in this category.
In general, the Vivo X100 Pro takes detailed, low-noise photos and videos in most situations, and the autofocus works quickly and precisely. The fact that it did not make it to the top of the best list is due to a few minor weaknesses. Bokeh mode does not always calculate the depth accurately, videos sometimes display a "jello" effect and are often underexposed in low light, and there is a strong color cast in some situations, which is partly due to the not-always reliable white balance.
