Hyper has introduced a new USB4 M.2 SSD enclosure with blistering-fast 80 Gbps speeds. Set to launch in late Q4, it supports PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSDs up to 2280 as well as external power delivery for sustained peak performance.

Following its launch of the HyperSpace Trackpad Pro, Hyper is now rolling out an updated version of its HyperDrive Next USB4 M.2 enclosure. Slated to launch towards the end of the year, the enclosure and the Trackpad Pro have both earned CES 2026 Innovation Awards and will be showcased at CES 2026.

Unlike the previous model, the new HyperDrive Next USB4 M.2 PCIe Enclosure (HD2500GL) now supports the full 80 Gbps bandwidth of USB4. It should easily unlock the speed potential of PCIe 4.0 and 3.0 NVMe SSDs, such as the Samsung 990 Pro, when connected to a USB4 or Thunderbolt 5 machine. Plus, this model also has an additional USB-C port for external power delivery, which means it can sustain those top speeds for longer sessions, unlike most bus-powered USB4 enclosures.

The enclosure measures 5.31 x 2.36 x 0.7 inches and comes with a drop-proof silicone sleeve that’s said to be IP55-rated, offering protection against dust and light water splashes. It supports M.2 SSDs up to 2280 in length, as well as other PCIe 4.0 modules like AI accelerators. The toolless design should also make installation and removal quick and hassle-free.

The HyperDrive Next USB4 M.2 PCIe Enclosure is expected to launch sometime in December at $199.99. In comparison, the standard 40 Gbps version currently retails for $119.99.
