The Asus Ascent GX10 is finally available. The manufacturer is asking over $4,000 for the compact desktop computer, which is a lot of money that can buy regular users a very well-equipped gaming PC. However, Asus is targeting professional users with this device, specifically those who want to experiment or work with AI models locally. Accordingly, the system is equipped with rather atypical components.
For instance, the Ascent GX10 features an Nvidia GB10 SoC with 10 Cortex-A925 and 10 Cortex-A725 cores with a performance of 1,000 TFLOPS. This is a theoretical number that should be taken with a degree of caution, but the Ascent GX10 is generally designed for AI-centric workloads.
For instance, the Asus mini PC could analyze large amounts of data in order to identify correlations that aren't obvious at first glance. For instance, it might be able to detect manufacturing issues with a machine part that only occur on days with strong solar radiation but low ambient temperature, because the hall is poorly insulated and the temperature sensor is exposed to the sun and provides incorrect data.
The Ascent GX10 measures 5.9 x 5.9 x 2.0 inches and comes with one HDMI port and multiple USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports. It also sports Ethernet with 10Gbps as well as WiFi 7. The mini PC is further equipped with 128GB LPDDR5X RAM, and two of these units can be combined into a single system via a special ConnectX CX-7 port. According to Asus' press release, the mini PC has launched on October 15, and it's already orderable at certain online retailers.
