Hardly any time has passed since details about the Minisforum MS-02 Ultra emerged online. Nonetheless, Minisforum has now showcased the mini-PC of the same name at Japan Autumn IT Week 2025 in Chiba. For context, the company has brought the G1 and G1 Pro to the same event, during which it has shared global launch information too.
According to Minisforum, the MS-02 Ultra centres around a 4.8 litre case, which it believes is a redefining moment of 'what's possible for small-form-factor (SFF) workstations'. Setting the marketing verbiage aside, the MS-02 Ultra features the Core Ultra 9 285HX from Intel's Arrow Lake-HX family. A 24-core processor, the Core Ultra 9 285HX outperforms the AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 395 found in powerful mini-PCs like the GMKtec EVO-X2 (curr. $1,499 on Amazon), according to our benchmarks.
While the 4-core Arc iGPU inside the Core Ultra 9 285HX is nothing to write home about, the MS-02 Ultra also contains PCIe 5.0 x16 and PCIe 4.0 x16 slots for adding 2-slot desktop graphics cards. To that end, Minisforum has included an 8-pin PCIe auxiliary power connector, although total system power may be capped at 350 W thanks to its built-in Flex PSU. Moreover, the mini-PC supports up to 256 GB of RAM, all within a housing that measures 221.5 × 225 × 97 mm.
On top of that, the MS-02 Ultra features plenty of front-facing and rear-facing I/O, including a pair of USB v2 ports. As PC Watch notes, the hardware contained within the MS-02 Ultra makes it more of a mini server than a conventional mini-PC or an SFF workstation. Unfortunately, pricing and availability remain unknown for now.
