The Lenovo ThinkCentre neo 55q Gen 6 is one of three new AI desktop PCs Lenovo has just announced. It joins the ThinkCentre neo 55a Gen 6 All-in-One desktop PC and the ThinkCentre neo 55s Gen 6 mini desktop PC.
Measuring 7.2 inches in length and weighing around 1.13 kg/2.49 lbs, the ThinkCentre neo 55q Gen 6 is quite small, such that it can be mounted directly behind the monitor screen, although not in a similar fashion as the Acer Chromebox Mini CXM2. This makes it suitable for those with limited space. The ThinkCentre neo 55q Gen 6 can also sit below your monitor or be placed vertically or horizontally beside it.
Available in Luna Grey and Eclipse Black, it features 85% post-consumer recycled plastic in its bezel and has rubber feet to prevent it from sliding around when placed horizontally.
With respect to its specifications, the ThinkCentre neo 55q Gen 6 is powered by an AMD Ryzen processor with an integrated NPU (up to 50 TOPS). It is important to state that Lenovo already offers a Snapdragon X X1-26-100 version and an Intel Core 7 240H version of the ThinkCentre Neo 50q.
The spec sheet says users will be able to configure the desktop computer with up to a Ryzen 5 AI 300 series processor, up to 64GB of DDR5 RAM (5,600MHz, 2x SODIMM), and up to 2TB of PCIe Gen SSD. It can be connected to up to three 4K monitors for multi-screen multitasking.
The front is home to 1x USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-A port, 1x USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-C port, and a microphone/headphone combo jack. On the back are an RJ45 port that offers up to 1 Gigabit speeds, 1x USB 3.2 Gen2 port, 3x USB 2.0 ports, 1x HDMI 2.1 port with TDMS, and 1x Display Port. In addition, it has Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4, and a 90W power supply. Users will also be able to add an extra COM, HDMI, VGA, DP, or LAN port as the ThinkCentre neo 55q Gen 6 has an extra punch-out port.
The ThinkCentre neo 55q Gen 6 comes with the option of Windows 11 Pro or Linux. With the former, users get Microsoft's Copilot+ PC experience. It also comes with Lenovo Vantage, which helps users to monitor system performance, optimize the software and hardware, schedule updates, and customize device settings.
There's also Lenovo's ThinkShield security and a fTPM or Discrete Trusted Platform Module (dTPM) 2.0 chip for password and data encryption. Lenovo will also include its Premier Support Plus program, which provides users with 24/7, round-the-clock access to expert technicians.
The ThinkCentre neo 55q Gen 6 has a starting price of $499, but there's no info on when it will be available for purchase. It ships in plastic-free packaging and should come with a vertical stand like its Snapdragon and Intel variants.
