The GMKtec NucBox K12 mini PC packs the Ryzen 7 H 255 APU with eight cores and sixteen threads, allowing for respectable performance in daily tasks and moderately intensive workloads. The OCuLink port also allows for powerful eGPU setups. Thanks to an ongoing Amazon Prime sale, the capable mini PC can now be bought with an attractive 31% discount.

The GMKtec NucBox K12 mini PC is a decently well-equipped mini PC with a powerful AMD APU and plenty of ports, including OCuLink. Following a series of launch discounts, the mini PC can once again be purchased for a lucrative discount price on Amazon, courtesy of an ongoing sale. As such, Prime members can purchase the Ryzen-powered mini PC at just $499 for a limited time.

Powered by the Zen 4-based AMD Ryzen 7 H 255 APU paired with 32 GB of memory, the K12 mini PC is a pretty decent performer, and can easily trade blows with the Intel Core Ultra 7 255H CPU in multi-threaded synthetic benchmarks. The 8-core Hawk Point APU also boasts the Radeon 780M iGPU with 16 CUs, and should be able to play a bunch of older titles at low settings. Of course, folks who demand additional GPU grunt can always opt for an OCuLink-based eGPU setup.

Our detailed review of the GMKtec NucBox K12 mini PC is mostly positive, although we were somewhat disappointed with the system's larger footprint and lack of a meaningful performance upgrade, since the Ryzen 7 H 255 APU is identical to the much older Ryzen 7 8745H APU. However, the three M.2 slots and extra ports will likely impress potential customers who can take advantage of them. The ports on offer are as follows:

  • Triple USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-A
  • HDMI 2.1, DisplayPort 1.4
  • Dual USB 2.0 Type-A
  • Dual USB-C with DP and PD
  • Dual 2.5G Ethernet
  • OCuLink

We also found the cooling system to be on the louder side, despite featuring a vapor chamber and dual fans. The memory and storage can be upgraded, although the thumb screws in the bottom panel are somewhat annoying to remove.

At its current discount price on Amazon Prime, the NucBox K12 mini PC sure does sound like an enticing system, provided that potential customers are willing to live with the aggressive fan noise. Of course, interested customers are advised to refer to our in-depth review of the product before making their purchase.
