Olight recently expanded its lineup with the new iUltra keychain flashlight. Compared with Olight’s earlier mini-flashlights, the new model introduces a more sophisticated design and addresses the shortcomings of the iMini 2.
For example, the iUltra features an integrated USB-C connector, allowing users to charge it directly by plugging it into a laptop. Located on the back of the device, the connector is protected by a flip mechanism. It becomes accessible by sliding a silver sleeve upward and then folding the cover to one side. This upgraded design enables the iUltra to charge while remaining attached to a keychain. By contrast, the older iMini 2 must be detached from a keychain before its USB-A plug can be used.
The device incorporates a degree of modularity: The flashlight itself is housed in the front section, which attaches magnetically to a round, dock-like base. The light activates when the front section is detached from the base. The integrated magnet also allows the flashlight to adhere to various surfaces.
Performance is modest due to the iUltra’s size. Measuring around 6 cm (2.3 in) in length, it delivers 80 lumens with a beam distance of 28 m (92 ft). Powered by a built-in 10180 battery rated at 0.3 Wh, it provides approximately 50 minutes of runtime on a single charge, with a full recharge taking about 60 minutes.
To ensure durability, Olight constructed the iUltra’s body from its exceptionally hard OAL aluminum alloy. The model meets the IP6X standard and weighs just 20 g (0.71 oz).
As part of a Black Friday sale, the Olight iUltra is available for $23.99 (MSRP $29.99) after discount – a rather steep price for a compact keychain flashlight. For comparison, the older iMini 2 with USB-A currently costs around $15, while the iR2 Pro with USB-C retails for about $16.50.
