Fenix Lighting has introduced two new lanterns with USB-C charging ports, the CL20R Pro and the CL20R 2.0. Both are essentially successors to the CL20R, which is still available on Amazon. The new Pro version officially costs $55, while the 2.0 is priced at $45. Otherwise, the features appear to be quite similar. In emergencies, the lanterns can also be powered by three AAA batteries.
The two camping lanterns differ primarily in brightness. The Pro version delivers 400 lumens, while the 2.0 version is limited to 300 lumens. The Pro version also features a 5.8GHz radar sensor, which is designed to automatically switch the lantern off after one minute of inactivity and back on again when motion is detected. This can be very useful in scenarios where motion detection is needed, such illuminating paths during camping trips.
The Pro version has a minimum runtime of 5 hours and 3 minutes in the brightest mode, while the 2.0 model manages 5 hours and 56 minutes here. In moonlight mode, several hundred hours are possible. In addition, there are various scene modes that make the CL20R series a great party light thanks to an RGB mode. Futhermore, the lanterns can also be attached without hooks thanks to the magnetic base. Together with batteries, the lanterns weigh 122 grams and are also IP65 rated. A little rain (low-pressure water jet) is unlikely to be an issue. However, the lanterns are not completely waterproof.
