Acebeam has launched a new version of the E10. Despite its size, the flashlight has a very long range and carries a mid-range price tag. In addition to a rechargeable battery, a disposable battery can also be used here.

The Acebeam E10 2.0 is the successor to the very compact E10, which already featured a long throw. The flashlight is only about 3.5 inches long, but it has a disproportionately large head with a diameter of 1.6 inches. The head contains a cool white LED with 6,500K that provides up to 1,200 lumens and a range of 782 yards. The flashlight weighs approximately 3.8 ounces, which places it well within the EDC category.

Furthermore, the new Acebeam flashlight has a very focused beam, even though it is not an LEP flashlight, which cover even longer distances with far fewer lumens but have some disadvantages regarding light quality. The new E10 2.0 is also lighter and has a slimmer body because the battery is smaller.

As is typical for Acebeam, the battery runtimes are somewhat complicated. The lowest mode with 2 lumens is supposed to last for 120 hours, while the turbo mode with 782 yards can only be used for 30 seconds. Afterward, the flashlight throttles to high mode, which remains available for another 32 minutes. This setting is dimmed even further, as the graphic below specifies.

Using the high mode illustrates how much strain the turbo mode puts on the battery of this EDC flashlight. The E10 2.0 lasts for 35 minutes at high, which means that the 30 seconds of turbo mode cost early 10% of the regular runtime at high. This mode still offers a throw of 466 yards. After 35 minutes, two lower modes are available with their own limitations in terms of runtime.

Therefore, the EDC flashlight should be recharged more frequently if users want to use turbo and high on a regular basis. Otherwise, users can’t take advantage of the long throw. This is a different approach compared to the predecessor, since the white LED version of the Acebeam E10 was able to maintain its respective power levels constantly but offered a maximum range of just 615 yards.

When it comes to the battery, Acebeam opted for a small 16340 cylindrical battery, which has to be removed from the flashlight in order to charge it. The charging electronics are located directly on the battery in the form of a USB-C port and are therefore not part of the flashlight. In a pinch, the E10 2.0 can also be powered by a CR123 cell, but Acebeam points out that the gadget does not hit its full brightness in that case.

The remaining specs include a magnetic back and an IP68 rating. Additionally, the flashlight can be submerged 6.5 ft deep in water for up to 30 minutes. Last but not least, the Acebeam E10 2.0 is priced at $60, which his about $20 lower compared to the predecessor.
