Few upcoming Switch 2 games have had such a troubled history as Metroid Prime 4: Beyond. When Nintendo finally announced a 2025 debut for the Retro Studios title, fans breathed a sigh of relief. Unfortunately, an industry insider has hinted at another Metroid Prime 4 release date delay. While Reece "Kiwi Talkz" Reilly doesn't dismiss the possibility of a 2025 arrival, he claims development of the project is ongoing.
Kiwi Talkz regularly interviews game-makers on his YouTube channel. He recently shed insight into the similarities between the Donkey Kong Bananza and Super Mario Odyssey development teams. Responding to frustration over the lack of a precise Metroid Prime 4 release date, Reilly shared the report on social media.
The insider wouldn't elaborate on why the game is taking so long to complete. Reilly promises that if the rumored Nintendo Direct doesn't include an official update, he will provide more details. Kiwi Talkz also said that Nintendo wouldn't force Retro Studios to meet deadlines.
Some gamers believe Nintendo wouldn't dare to postpone the Switch 2 game yet again. Fans have seen two new trailers emerge in 2025 already. Also, in June, a Metroid Prime 4: Beyond ad saying "Out Now" was spotted in the London Underground. A Nintendo representative soon clarified that the timing of the artwork was an error. Even so, marketing for the game is clearly in an advanced stage.
Considering the obstacles the title has faced since its 2017 origins, it may be wise not to rule out further disappointment. An unsatisfied Nintendo decided to switch from Bandai Namco to Retro Studios in 2019. Gamers had reassurance that Metroid Prime 4 would match the high standards of previous releases. Still, six years later, supporters continue to play the waiting game.
